History of supporting manufacturing(mid-1990s-)

The 3rd wave

Among logistics-type systems of production management, purchasing management and sales management, the ERP packages starting to get popular at the time were suited to some companies whereas many other companies desired a system specially developed to their particular limitations.

That being the case, we wondered whether we could build not a customized system built from scratch but not an ERP package either, rather a more flexible system or mechanism that leveraged a company's strengths using an "object-oriented" approach. This was what we called a "framework" concept, and our first MCFrame product was released in 1996.

Toward the Internet era

B-EN-G's connection to Internet technology goes back to 1994 when Toyo Engineering became only the second private company in Japan to launch its own web server. In those days, companies were still at the stage of exploring how the Internet would be utilized, but then along came Internet technologies centered on electronic trading in the form of e-commerce and online marketplaces.

Which brings us to the present. Major developments are underway in online technologies for supporting SOA (Service Oriented Architecture). B-EN-G is applying Internet technologies from different viewpoints including core systems such as ERP and collaboration systems such as BPM. We have also applied Internet technologies in our MCFrame products to develop the Java-based Web-enabled MCFrame iSeries.
